Madera 2016 – 15 – droga widokowo – przygodowa

ptPortugalia – Madera – Ponta Delgada         24.09.2016          4 135 km

We don’t wanna hurry up today. We have a breakfast at the terrace with the view.
We go out at ten and drive back to the northern end of the island.
Our first stop is Ponta Delgada (don’t mislead with Ponta Delgada at Azores 😉 ) and a visit in the port. It’s a nice and quiet small town, all we can see is a man going to a shop and walking back with bread.

W pobliżu portu jest kościółek i zarośnięta studnia i cmentarz. I niebieski basen, jakby ktoś miał ochotę.

Near the port there’s a church and a full of plants well and a cementary. And a blue pool if someone feels like. Waves break on the shore. It’s a pity it’s the beginning of the day, I’d like to stay on the pool 🙂
We drive to the road to Santana. Ponta Delgada looks more nice from up – white houses on the cape with cliffs as background. The view from here is georgious and there are a few places to stop to see it. There are also benches so one can also make a picnic with a view 🙂

W jednym z nich siedzi pan i sprzedaje owoce. Zagaduje i zagaduje. Zachęca do kupna częstując – niezły marketing.

At one of them there’s a man selling fruits. He’s talking and talking. He encourages us to buy something by giving us pieces of fruits – just marketing. He get more back anyway – three euro for this bit of fruits it’s just a rip off 😉 But again, I don’t feel sorry for this – I prefer to leave my money to local people then to supermarkets and corporations.
I’m not saying about the fact that there are the prices for a kilo, but everything is counted roughly anyway.

He’s got many fruits I haven’t ever tried before. There is rododendron fruit, interesting taste but too much work with it. There is banana marakuja – it really looks like a small banana and tastes like a pseudo marakuja. I wonder if it’s a natural fruit or a cross-breed? A real marakuja tastes better for me.

jeszcze jeden widok / another view

We drive farther and there… we’re trapped 😉 The road is so narrow that cars can pass each other only in some planes, sometimes they must drive back. On one side there are high vertical rocks, on the other side – a low wall with a precipice to the ocean behind it.
It’s not a long part of the road, but it is, and the road is quite busy, mainly by tourists so it’s quite funny 😉 And it’s all behind a turn so it’s not possible to see what is ahead 🙂
We make it luckily without driving back – we pass by another cars with closed mirrors. Well, another adventure 😉 but I guess this is the reason of the legends how horrible it is to drive at Madeira.

On the way there’s a miraduro in Arco de Sao Jorge. The town is very nice, with many flowes, which are at the view point, too. Well, the views from the last ones were more nice.
Some music and shots can be heard from a nearby hill in the noon – like from a cannon. I’d like to go there and see what’s gonig on but the group doesn’t feel like.
