Madera 2016 – 12 – w dolinie

A wśród nich dolinka z rzeczką, no i samo Serra de Agua z białym kościółkiem.

We go to the center of the island.
We drive by Serra de Agua and another wow! The mountains are incredible, it seems one mountain rises from another one. They are so steep that it seems impossible to walk up there. And among them – a valley with a small river and Serra de Agua with a white church itself.

W miasteczku można spróbować też tradycyjnego miejscowego napoju o nazwie poncha.
Poncha leczy katar.

You can try here a traditional regional alcoholic drink – poncha.
Poncha cures catarrh. Well, actually they say it cures everything 😉 It’s made of cane alcohol (aguardente de cana), honey and lemon or other fruit juce. The idea is from India, and the English are those who brought it here. At the beginning it was really a cure. Of course 😉
Unfortunatelly I have no chance to try it, I’m a driver 🙁 I wonder so much if that poncha in a tavern is a home made one or that one sold in shops in plastic botlles. That one in a bottle is just not tasty, it’s color makes me fear and it’s full of chemistry, brrrr.

We stop for a while on a pass and a view point near Pico da Encumeada.
A few levadas meet here. There’s a parking place and a souvenir shop. Around there are overgrown with forest mountains, so I liked more the wiev over Serra de Agua. And here it’s much more cold.
